How Do You Cook Canned Green Beans?

How do you cook canned green beans

so as they taste like fresh beans just picked and cooked. I do not want that canned bean taste that we are all familiar with. There are some recipes I would like to try with green beans and I have a lot of canned green beans that I had some coupons for and ended up buying more than I need.

I did try to just put it in boiling water and cook it but the taste is nothing close to what I would like it to be. Please if anyone can help me with cooking canned green beans.

So I want to know how to cook canned green beans alone and in recipes that will amaze me. Can I put it in the microwave? or open it and put it in the microwave? Maybe if I drain the water and put fresh new water instead?

A friend of mine laughed at me as she never buys canned and she is telling me there is nothing I can do just boil it put some garlic in it and cook. But I refuse to believe that that's all there is to it.

Canned green beans recipe

I usually prepare fresh or frozen green beans, but on occsaion have used canned green beans for my favorite recipe. It still tastes wonderful, if you treat the canned beans as ALREADY COOKED. Just rinse them gently and thoroughly of the canned liquid.1 or 2 cans  green beans1/2 to 1 finely chopped onion1 to 2 cloves finely chopped garlic1 tsp lemon zest (optional but delicious)1/4 to 1/2 cup chopped olives 1 TBSP olive oilsalt and cracked pepper to tasteSaute the onion in oil til translucent, add olives, stir to mix. Add lemon zest, garlic and stir to mix and quickly add green beans and gently stir to combine. Add salt and pepper to taste. Beans are ready to serve.Sometimes I add chopped fresh herb (fenugreek, coriander, basil or parsley) or fresh tomato to garnish and for extra flavor. No one has ever complained that they were eating canned green beans.Deborah

Canned green beans is not as good as fresh green beans

Simply forget about canned green beans. Just buy fresh green beans. I do buy canned green beans just to have some if I was going to make something quick. Usually I will use it for making Chili.
