Cilantro Hummus Recipe

What a wonderful twist to the traditional hummus recipe. As hummus has gotten so popular, so has the variations of it. This is one version that you sure will add to your menu to serve at your next gathering or party. Its a great low fat dip or spread. And making it at home is economical, and you can make plenty of it. Using the main ingredient which is garbanzo bean, olive oil, and cilantro. Serve with pita bread or chips and vegetables of choice. Enjoy!


1) In a food processor or blender puree the garbanzo beans also known as chickpeas, yogurt, cilantro (Coriander) garlic, lemon juice, water and salt to taste.

2) Once you reach a smooth texture pour into a serving dish.

3) Garnish with cilantro leaves and a few garbanzo beans on top.

4) Drizzle a little Olive Oil, and serve!

*NOTE - Serve with Pita bread or chips, vegetables like carrot and celery sticks.

  1. 1 cup canned garbanzo bean, rinsed and drained (Chickpeas)
  2. 1/4 cup low-fat plain yogurt
  3. 1/2 cup chopped fresh cilantro (Coriander)
  4. 1 small garlic clove, chopped
  5. 1 1/2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  6. 1 tablespoon water
  7. 1/4 teaspoon salt
  8. Olive Oil
