Part 2 Cooking the Fava Beans Beef Stew

1- Put 3 to 4 tbsp of olive oil in the pressure cooker and saute the onion, garlic, green chillies, crushed red chillies for
3 to 4 minutes or until the onions are soft and translucent.
4- Add the stew meat to the onion mixture and brown them slightly.
4- Add 2 cups of water over the meat in the pressure cooker close the lid according to the instructions of the type of pressure cooker used and cook 15 to 20 minutes on medium heat.
5- When meat is cooked, using a slotted spoon, transfer it into a dish.
6- Add the tomato sauce and diced tomatoes onto the broth in the cooker season with salt add the fava beans. Sprinkle the chopped dill over the beans and cook covered for about 10 minutes.
7- transfer the meat to the cooker and cook uncovered for 2 to 3 more minutes.

Directions for ordinary pot

Follow the same direction for step 1 & 2

3- Add 4 or 5 cups of water. Cook 40 to 45 minutes or until the meat is tender.
(check occasionally add more water if necessary)
4- Same as pressure cooker method.
5- Cook covered about 20 minutes or until the fava been is tender to the bite.
6- Same as pressure cooker.

  1. Around 1 pound of fava bean
  2. 1 pound of beef stew
  3. 1/2 bunch of fresh dill coarsely chopped ( around 3 to 4 tbsp)
  4. 7 ounces can of diced tomatoes
  5. 7 ounces can of tomato sauce
  6. 5 to 6 cloves of garlic chopped or crushed
  7. 1 medium size onion chopped
  8. 1 tsp dry red chillies crushed (optional)
  9. 2 green chillies finely chopped ( optional)
  10. 3 or 4 tbsp of olive oil
  11. Salt to season
Pressure cooker is an excellent tool in the kitchen for today's busy parents. It saves time and saves energy. Please do check carefully the manual of your pressure cooker before using it. Note for vegetarians This dish is as delicious without meat. Cook the same way just omit step 2 & 3.
