Homemade Mac and Cheese

Homemade Mac and Cheese Recipe - An excellent creamy and delicious macaroni and cheese recipe. Great traditional pasta recipes like this one will get the pickiest eaters finishing up the dish.


1) In a large pot, boil some water and add the pasta in it.  Cook for 8 to 10 minutes (Follow directions on the package)

2) Melt the margarine or butter on medium heat in a sauce pot.

3) Mix in the flour to make a roux. 

4) Pour the milk slowly while stirring constantly. 

5) Add the cheese and stir, until sauce becomes thicker.

6) Drain the pasta from excess water, and place into the bowl where the cheese is. Mix together.

7) Place the macaroni mixture into a large pyrex oven safe dish. Level off.

8) Using a frying pan, melt the margarine or butter and add the breadcrumbs.  Keep mixing until the bread crumbs become golden brown.

9) Spread over the cheesy macaroni, and sprinkle with a little paprika on top.

10) Preheat oven at 350 degrees F and cook the macaroni and cheese in the oven for 25 to 30 minutes.


  1. 8 ounces uncooked elbow macaroni
  2. 2 cups shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
  3. 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  4. 3 cups milk
  5. 1/4 cup butter
  6. 2 1/2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  7. 2 tablespoons butter
  8. 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  9. 1 pinch paprika
