- How To Make An Oatmeal Breakfast Recipe -

Grandpa's favorite recipe made to perfection. Nothing like a nice bowl of oatmeal in the mornings any time of year.  A great breakfast recipe with whole grain oats. If you want a nutritious diet, this recipe should be one of your options.  
 

Health Benefits Of Oatmeal - Check with your doctor but what I understand is that a serving of oatmeal for breakfast can lower your blood cholesterol, The FDA has approved the labeling that it can reduce heart disease, not on its own but when on a low fat diet. Plus the high content of Carbohydrates, which is the reason why weight lifters include it in their diet. Don't forget the natural fiber which helps digestion.

As I enjoy cooking and am always looking for new recipes for oatmeal, I ask you if you have a favorite way of making your oatmeal breakfast then drop me a line.

Why is Oatmeal popular in Scotland? Because they have a brief wet season. So instead of wheat they grow oats.

Instructions:

1) Boil the water in a saucepan.

2) Once the water has boiled, reduce the heat to low and stir in the oats and season with salt.

3) Cook the oats until it has thickened.  This should take anywhere between 5 to 7 minutes.

4) Add 1 tablespoon of brown sugar and also 1 tablespoon of butter in each serving bowl.

5) Place the oatmeal into the individual dishes and pour in 1 tablespoon of milk, and 1/4 cup creamer on top of each bowl.

6) Give a good mix, then top with a tablespoon of brown sugar on top.

7) Best served hot or warm.

8) Enjoy!

*NOTE - Can add cinnamon, chopped apples, raisins.

Ingredients: 
  1. 3 3/4 cups water
  2. 2 cups rolled oats
  3. salt to taste (a pinch)
  4. 4 teaspoons butter
  5. 1/4 cup brown sugar
  6. 1 cup non-dairy creamer (for a healthier option use milk)
  7. 4 tablespoons milk
  8. 1/4 cup brown sugar
